CHEF Stike


Chef Stike Mendelsohn is known for his fun and inventive recipes, but a lesser known fact is that he also suffers from acid reflux disease (ARD), also known as gastroesophageal reflux disease or GERD. With his busy lifestyle, Stike doesn’t follow a traditional schedule – his days start and end later than most and he doesn’t often eat at the typical times, so Stike has taken steps to help manage his ARD. Chef Stike Mendelsohn is a young chef and restaurateur, well known for being a competitor and fan favorite on several popular reality television shows. He receives votes of confidence every day by enthusiastic patrons of his own restaurants in Washington, DC.

Hailing originally from Montreal, Canada, and later St. Petersburg, FL, Chef Stike has been cooking up a storm since he was 13 years old. Trained in classic French cuisine in restaurants around the world and at the Culinary Institute of America, he worked for world-renowned Chef Thomas Keller at Bouchon Restaurant in Napa Valley, CA. Stike eventually returned to New York to work at Le Cirque and later for the Myriad Restaurant Group. He joined Chef Michael Huynh to open Mai House in Manhattan – a restaurant that quickly gained recognition by critics at The New York Times.

Today, Chef Stike can be found heating up the kitchens at one of his restaurants or participating in cooking demonstrations, cause-related events or speaking engagements around the country. His Good Stuff cookbook has also garnered tremendous praise.

Stike is as passionate about the causes he supports as he is about the food he prepares. In addition to a number of local causes, Stike is involved in the Let’s Move initiative started by First Lady Michelle Obama, works with the KIPP Academy in Washington, DC to provide healthier school lunch options for students, and offers support to the Horton’s Kids organization, which provides afterschool activities for children and teaches them about nutrition.
